Affected population: a free ranging herd of 87 cows and 87 calves. 7 animals died in the last 10 days and no diagnosis was established. Samples of a cow, which died later, were found positive to the disease.

Source of the outbreak(s) or origin of infection: contact with infected area
Epidemiological comments: in 1983 anthrax was diagnosed in the same area. The herd was moved to another area and treated with penicillin.

Measures applied: movement control inside the country; no vaccination; treatment of affected animals (penicillin)
